Join EU4Algae in celebrating International Seaweed Day 2025, observed on 4 June!

Today, 4 June 2025, we celebrate International Seaweed Day, marking the anniversary of the launch of the Seaweed Manifesto. This collaborative initiative, supported by the United Nations Global Compact's Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform, highlights the transformative potential of seaweed in addressing global challenges such as food security, climate change mitigation, and ecosystem restoration. As the Seaweed Manifesto reminds us, seaweed can play a vital role in global sustainability efforts.

Seaweed: A Blue Economy Driver

Seaweed is more than a sustainable marine resource – it’s a catalyst for innovation and development within Europe’s blue economy. From sustainable aquaculture and biodegradable materials to nutritional products and climate-friendly innovations, seaweed continues to redefine how we think about ocean resources.
